Iosco Exploration Trail
The Iosco Exploration Trail (IET) is a 44 mile planned trail across Iosco County as part of Michigan's Iron Belle Trail. The Iosco Exploration Trail 501c3 nonprofit was created to facilitate the planning, development, construction, and long-term maintenance of the IET. Currently, there are four of eight phases completed. Phases 1, 3 and 4 is a 15 mile portion from Pointe Rd and US23 through AuSable to Oscoda along Mill St to River Rd. to Oscoda High School and currently completing at Old Orchard Park entrance. It was completed in 2024. Loon Lake Trail in Hale, MI, phase 2, was completed in 2019 and is 1.9 miles long traveling from Loon Lake park to Kokosing Road. These beautiful phases have proven to be very positive additions to Iosco County, both with foot and bike traffic year round. We are currently seeking funding for the design and engineering of the remainder of the IET as it connects with the existing Alabaster/Tawas/Baldwin path and those phases already complete.
